VoIP Platform and Network

USA Datanet was one of the first US service providers to select and deploy SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) as the core technology on which to build its VoIP platforms and network.

The SIP standard has evolved into the fundamental building block that service providers will use to harness the power of Internet Protocol (IP) to deliver high value, next-generation communication services. SIP is the mechanism that unites services across traditionally separate platforms, creating a number of new possibilities. With it, unique services can be created through the combination of elements from telephony, messaging, the Internet and other web applications, e-mail, video, mobile networks and many others.

Network Features

Carrier Class Legacy Switching Platforms

USA Datanet's legacy switching platforms are bandwidth and media neutral. The legacy switching and data center and network management systems reside in our Syracuse, NY, network operations center. The Company selected Sonus Networks as its softswitch and media-gateway technology partner and has installed Sonus GSX9000 Open Services Switches.

The GSX9000 is expressly designed to enable the converged PSTN/Packet-based public network and to provide a powerful VoIP solution and a superior migration path for enhanced services. Designed to carrier standards, the GSX9000 is NEBS Level 3 compliant, and fully redundant configurations are designed to be 99.999% reliable.

Convergence

USA Datanet’s unique network design provides for true convergence, driven by our ability to interoperate within many of the signaling networks in use today, including SS7, CAS, PRI, SIP, H.323, ENUM, and HLR (future).

Modular Architecture

The Company's modular network architecture separates intelligent network components by disassociating the hardware switching from the control software. This architecture enables a variety of transport modes and utilizes a host of network protocols. The resulting open environment enables USA Datanet's SIP-based network to interconnect with devices operating under a variety of other architectures.

Softswitch

A softswitch is an interconnection of standards-based software modules that dictate call control, signaling, protocol mediation and service creation within a converged network. This provides a consistent call control structure across all networks, allowing USA Datanet to provide a common look and feel across a variety of service offerings.

USA Datanet's softswitch architecture provides open Application Programming Interface (API) built into the circuit- and packet-switched fabric, thereby allowing us to create enhanced network services quickly and enable the integration of best-of-breed applications. The softswitch allows for even more sophisticated services through application servers, which have the service logic and user interaction capabilities to implement one or more enhanced network services.
